Hazardous Gas Safety with High Purity PTFE SS Braided Hose

Handling toxic, pyrophoric and highly flammable gases is one of the most critical safety challenges in industrial facilities. A single gas leak in a semiconductor sub-fab or chemical plant can mean emergency shutdowns, fires or serious personnel exposure. Certified high purity SS braided PTFE hose assemblies provide a critical safety buffer for high-risk gas delivery.

Permeation Resistance and Layered Protection

Gases such as arsine (AsH₃), phosphine (PH₃) and silane (SiH₄) are severely toxic or pyrophoric. Standard synthetic rubber or low-density plastic hoses are vulnerable to vapour permeation over time.

High purity PTFE liners made from dense, non-porous resin dramatically slow permeation. Paired with a stainless steel over-braid, the assembly also protects against impact, abrasion and pressure spikes.

Safety layers of a PTFE SS braided hose

1Dense virgin PTFE coreInhibits gas permeation
2Anti-static carbon linerPrevents sparking and electrostatic discharge
3High-tensile stainless steel braidProtects against impact and pressure spikes
4Outer armour or silicone (optional)Thermal and flame guard

Flame Resistance and Thermal Integrity

In an external fire, unreinforced plastic tubing melts quickly and releases pressurised gas into the fire. A high purity PTFE SS braided hose keeps its structural integrity at elevated temperatures, giving automated fire suppression time to act and isolate gas cabinets.

Compliance Standards Met by Advanced Fluro

  • SEMI S2 / SEMI F19 compliance: meets semiconductor equipment safety and UHP gas distribution requirements.
  • 100% hydrostatic proof testing: every hose is tested to 1.5× working pressure.
  • Traceability: full lot traceability from raw PTFE resin to final end fittings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are rubber hoses unsuitable for arsine, phosphine or silane?

Synthetic rubber and low-density plastics are vulnerable to vapour permeation over time, which is dangerous with toxic or pyrophoric gases.

What happens to a PTFE braided hose in a fire?

It keeps its structural integrity at elevated temperatures, unlike unreinforced plastic tubing that melts and releases gas.

How is each hose pressure tested?

Every hose is hydrostatically proof tested to 1.5 times its working pressure.
